2007 Season

Football endured a tremendous growth in participation this year throughout Brisbane and Ace mirrored this growth. We fielded 63 teams with 33 Rooball teams, 24 competitive junior teams and 6 senior teams. In total 16 teams made semi-finals with the U13 Div 1 U13 Div4 and U11 Div 6 team’s winning the Premierships and our Metro 2, Under 12 Div 3 and Under 13 Div 4 winning the Championships. Congratulations to all the teams that won Premierships and Championship. Geordie Turner’s youth team started the season somewhat slow but managed to narrowly miss out on the Championship medal. Our club Captain Chris Hutton, represented the club with honour with his Metro 2 team winning the Championship and Chris taking an interest in starting the process of bridging the gap between seniors and juniors. Ten junior player’s from under 12, 13 and 14 were selected in either rep teams or rep development teams with Brock Kinman going on to State selection and then winning our Junior Player of the Year Award. Our First division team is best described as a young team and under the leadership of coach John Day for the first year, finished 8th in the competition and had they not lost points for an administrative error would have finished 7th. During the season John’s boys provided some real entertaining football beating top teams like Olympic and Beenleigh and at times having Premiership team North Pine on the back foot. Matt Hornby won the senior player of the Year and Golden Boot award and many of our young up and coming players had the opportunity to be part of the senior squad as part of John’s commitment to develop young players in the club.
