Involvement of Parents as Team Coaches and Managers
ACE gives parents the opportunity to participate in their children’s sport by coaching or managing a team, irrespective of experience. Whilst we prefer coaches to have previous experience, formal qualifications or playing experience, we acknowledge that this is not always possible. ACE has numerous initiatives in place to assist parent coaches in coaching a team including the following:
- All new coaches are encouraged to participate in the Grass Roots Coaching Program which provides a good introductory overview of the role of the coach with guidance for training. This is provided free of charge
- Coaches are encouraged to obtain their Blue Card
- Coaches are encouraged to complete Junior Coaching Licenses and provide financial support to all ACE coaches.
- Coaches are encouraged to complete Youth Coaching Licenses and provide financial support to all ACE coaches.
- ACE holds regular coach the coach sessions which provide coaches detailed and proven methods of coaching
- ACE provides a library of online drills, coaching guidelines and short videos to assist in planning coaching sessions
- ACE provides all coaches a large library of coaching DVD’S which can be borrowed and watched at home at convenient times
- Most importantly ACE provides five qualified Football Director’s of Coaching who are responsible for the guidance and development of all ACE coaches
ACE is proud of the enthusiasm of our parent coaches. Whilst many started with no formal coaching qualifications, more than 90% of ACE coaches had completed either a grass roots, junior or youth coaching license.
