TECHNICAL INFRASTRUCTURE

In preparation for the 2010 season, the ACE committee reviewed the overall technical structure of the club with the aim of increasing the level of technical professionalism and overall focus on player development.  The restructure of the technical department aligned well with the requirement of RSJPL.

DEVELOPMENT OF RSJPL

Players who are not selected in RSJPL squads are not excluded from the development infrastructure of ACE.  The coaching structures of all division 1 squads have integrated been with RSJPL development. Furthermore, all coaching staff involved with RSJPL have development responsibility across Division 1 players to ensure that development occurs within the club.  Division 1 players train twice per week and are encouraged to participate in the clubs Football School which provides a third training session per week similar to the RSJPL training program.

The under 11 Division 1 Squad, will be a development squad which will be coached by the club's Junior Development Coach Phil Hughes. Phil is a very experienced coach having been involved in development with the representative program. Phil is also responsible for the Under 10 and Under 9 developments squads who will train once per week with their regular squads and once a week with the development squad. All players in the development squads are encouraged to participate in the clubs Football School which will provide a third training session per week.  The development structure of the club is modelled on the European whole player philosophy which aims to develop football players, technically, tactically, physically, mentally and socially.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ'S)

We understand and recognise that many parents and players have numerous questions with respect to RSJPL. Below are some frequently asked questions that may assist in the clarification of the program and our club's integration of the program  to our development framework.

How many teams will compete in the RSJPL in 2010?
There will be 10 teams made up of the 6 Brisbane teams, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, Northern NSW and South West Qld.
Will RSJPL players need to travel to opposing team fields for away matches?
Yes although at this stage, Northern NSW may travel to the Gold Coast to play.

Will ACE be an RSJPL club only in 2010?
Appointments of RSJPL clubs by Football Brisbane and Football Queensland are for two years at which point any club that is not deemed to be developing players and fulfilling all of the requirements of the competition could be replaced. ACE is committed to RSJPL as evident by the quality of the coaching staff and aims to retain our position in this competition for many years to come.

What happens to players who do not make the RSJPL?
All players not selected in RSJPL will have the opportunity of playing in U12, U13, U14 and U15 Division 1 squads at ACE. We believe that the Division 1 competition will be a strong competition given that every RSJPL club will have a Division 1 squad and will not participate in BJL. All players will receive an ACE 2010 registration form during trials. Players who miss out on RSJPL for 2010 who complete the registration form and pay their membership fee for 2010 on or before the last trial date will be guaranteed a place at ACE in 2010. Trials for Division one will occur in January.

What development will Division 1 player’s get at ACE if they don’t get into RSJPL?
We believe that the main reasons ACE was selected as one of only 6 Brisbane club for RSJPL club was our focus on player development as evident by the technical structure introduced and the quality of coaches that was setup for 2010. Each coach involved in RSJPL is also involved in all other divisions of the club. For example the RSJPL under 15 coach is also the Direct of Coaching for U15, U16 and Youth.

Has ACE increased their focus on development in 2010 specifically for RSJPL?
Over the past three years, the club has focused considerable financial investment and resources in the construction and improvement of facilities and equipment across our Wolter Park and Brendale facilities. Having completed these initiatives this year, the Committee had redirected the financial focus to senior and junior player development starting in 2010. Most of the initiatives planned for 2010 would have occurred irrespective of RSJPL.

What other initiatives is ACE undertaking to develop players?
In addition to increasing the quantity and quality of coaches for 2010, ACE players in all divisions (excluding RSJPL players) will have the opportunity to participate in a football school which will run throughout the year. The football school will be run by the Technical Director and a group of professional coaches with a focus on developing technical skills. The school will offer two separate levels based on a player’s skills and their playing division. The football school is voluntary and open to all interested players that are members of ACE for a small cost. We believe that the school working in conjunction with the normal soccer program will increase the development opportunity for all players at ACE in preparation for RSJPL.

Is it true that State Representative players will only be selected from the RSJPL squads?
Our understanding is that this will be the case.

What nights will RSJPL teams train?
Training will be on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. All matches will be on Sunday.
In addition to technical structure and coaching what is ACE doing to improve the facilities and playing experience for players and their families?

ACE has a tremendous expansion program which over the past three years has seen the assets of the club grow by more than $1.5 million. Prior to the 2010 season commencing, the club is investing $70,000 into resurfacing our Wolter Park field and upgrading the Brendale fields. $150,000 Is being spent on new lights and light towers at Brendale and a further $45,000 on a new grandstand at Brendale for field 11. At the commencement of the 2011 season, we will introduce two new full size fields at Brendale and by 2012 another 2 full size fields and 6 junior fields which translates to ACE having 7 full size fields and six junior fields available. The club is also in the process of designing a larger Gymnasium for Brendale which we hope will be in place in 2011. We are also discussing the possibility of three indoor astro synthetic fields which will be used for indoor football and training. The club's committee is confident in the strategic plan that will develop ACE as the largest club in Brisbane with player capacity of 1500 during the season and 800 in the off-season.

Will coaches select players prior to the end of the 6 trials and why?
Coaches have the authority to accept a player into a squad prior to the completion of the trials. Unfortunately this has to occur due to player’s trailing at multiple clubs making it difficult for coaches and selections. If your son is selected prior to the end of the trials, you have the opportunity to complete the registration form and pay your deposit. Once your deposit is received the spot will be guaranteed. Only part teams will be selected prior to the end of the trials allowing all player opportunity until the last trial. Deposits are refundable to any player who is cut from the 20 man squad in January and chooses not to play at ACE in 2010.

Some coaches have already identified a group of players to be included in the team, is this group final?
Some coaches will establish groups to encourage the best from players. These groups are indicative and all players still have the opportunity to be picked during the trials. Final 20 player squads will be finalised after the last trial date.

Will RSJPL squads have a Manager?
Yes, we will be seeking a volunteer parent to act as the Manager for the squad.

What will ACE expect from RSJPL players and parents in 2010?
RSJPL will represent the elite competition in Brisbane providing young footballers the opportunity to fulfil their dreams through quality coaching that will develop each individual player. ACE RSJPL players are expected to look and behave professionally at all times. Players should have a positive attitude be well behaved with a firm commitment to their coach, their team and the club. Players are expected to strive to achieve their best during training and games with a key focus on development.

Will a player in Division 1 at ACE be given priority in RSJPL selections in subsequent years?
All players participating in RSJPL trials next year will be given the same opportunity and awarded positions on the RSJPL squad based on their ability. We have faith in our development focus and believe that ACE players will be better prepared for RSJPL trials due to their close involvement with the competition and ongoing exposure to the RSJPL training methods.

Will ACE be doing anything different for Under 11 Under 10 and Under 9 players in 2010 to prepare them for RSJPL?
Development is the key focus of the club. The ACE under 11 division 1 squad won the premiership this year and went through undefeated to the finals in the Gold Coast Cup. The club has appointed a development coach with a senior coaching license who in 2010 will establish and train development squads for U11, U10 and U9 players in preparation for future RSJPL trials. A development clinic will be held each December, January, February and March to develop players and select the development squad in each age group.  Each age group development squad will play additional matches throughout the season.  All players selected in the development squads will be encouraged to also participate in the clubs Football School.  We are confident that these initiatives will  be effective in developing football players.

What will ACE provide RSJPL players as a means of succession after they are too old for RSJPL?
Each year ACE will field and U16BJL and an U16 Div 1 squad. These squads will be coached by qualified coaches looking to prepare players for senior football.  Players with ability and desire may play in the Youth competition with the club seeking a spot in Premier Youth in 2011.  ACE offers a number of Youth Scholarships to players who show elite qualities and the potential to play in the club's senior squad.  These scholarships provide players a financial initiative to perform at the very lest over a three year timeframe.
